Essential Responsibilities of Compliance and Categorical Programs:
- Coordinate the development, refinement, and implementation of the districts’ and school sites’ policies and plans for complying with the requirements of the Unruh Civil Rights Act, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 604 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Monitor and evaluate compliance with the requirements of the ADA and other disability law.
- Work with the districts’ director of facilities and operations, in seeing that all architectural access barriers at school sites and district facilities are removed.
- Prepare ADA access compliance reports.
- Assists in the development of policies supporting the equal opportunity of disabled students to participate in all district programs.
- Work with each school site in the development of an annual Disability Awareness Day.
- Coordinate the referral of, investigation and resolution of complaints and grievances alleging failure to comply with ADA regulations or discrimination on the basis of disability.
- Coordinate the development, refinement, implementation, and reporting of the District’s and school sites’ policies and plans for complying with state and federal English learner requirements.
- Coordinate the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).
- Develop an in-service training program to ensure that staff, have the necessary skills to provide appropriate instructional and support services to English learners.
- Coordinate educational placement decisions for foster children.
- Oversee the Administrative Hearing Panel.
- Coordinate the districts’ Safe School Plan.
