Essential Responsibilities of Elementary Education:
- Provide leadership in the formulation of instructional programs, plans, policies, and procedures for all elementary schools.
- Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of elementary school principals.
- Develop and/or administer professional development programs for classified and certificated staff.
- Organize and administer the elementary summer school program.
- Assist elementary school principals in the development and review of each school’s Single School Plan for Student Achievement, including the school’s site budget.
- Participate in the establishment of the districts’ annual budget for elementary schools.
- Assist in the development of education specifications for all rehabilitation, modernization and construction of school facilities.
- Work with the elementary school site principals to evaluate and establish an order of priority needs and requests for capital outlay.
- Schedule and conduct various meetings such as Elementary Principals' Council, Elementary Curriculum Council, and the Elementary Parent Advisory Committee.
- Assist in the selection, supervision, and evaluation of certificated personnel.
- Supervise various pre-kindergarten programs, such as Child Development and Healthy Start.
- Administer the elementary Gifted and Talented Education Program.
- Oversee the Office of Special Education, including Home Hospital Service and the districts’ nurses.
