Salary: $21.26 – $26.28 per hour, paid monthly. Classified salary schedule, range 48. Initial placement shall be determined by training and experience; maximum salary placement will be at mid-range. Benefits include holidays, vacation, and sick leave.

Assignment: Six hours per day, nine months per year positions available through the district special education office. Monday through Friday, hours to be determined.

Definition: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, serve as facilitator of communication between deaf and/or severely hard of hearing students and hearing persons; utilize the Language of Signs and finger spelling; speech, reading, writing, gestures and pictures may be used in the process to facilitate learning and understanding as needed.

Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and successful completion of a district-approved captioning training program or two years experience working as a captionist for hearing impaired students.
