Management Position

Assistant Principal, Dos Pueblos High School

Salary: The salary is an eight-step range, currently $92,292 - $104,142 on the management schedule for a 215-day contract, paid over twelve months.  Maximum placement is at the fourth step, with at least three years management experience.

Assignment: Under the supervision of the principal, the assistant principal will be responsible for supervision of students, supervision of certificated and classified employees, campus activities and extracurricular events. Specific responsibilities will be established by the principal.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • Serves as administrator-in-charge in the absence of the principal.
  • Is responsible for student conduct and assists in general campus control.
  • Assists in the development of administrative policies for the school and represents and implements school polices in contact with the public and staff.
  • Assists in the development and supervision of the instructional program.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of personnel, including teachers, counselors, and support staff.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of the staff inservice program.
  • Maintains all records necessary to the responsibility of the office.
  • Attends and supervises school events.

Depending on decisions reached by the school management team, the assistant principal may be assigned one or more of the following responsibilities: supervision of school facilities and grounds; coordination of data processing services; coordination of state and local testing; collaboration on master schedule implementation; coordination of Independent Study Program, Special Education Program, Gifted and Talented Program, Limited English Proficient Program, and other categorical programs. 

Additional responsibilities may be the school calendar, pupil records, attendance, safety, and community services to meet special needs of students, and student leadership elections and activities. The assistant principal also performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
