Dos Pueblos High School
(Established in 1966)
In 1999, Dos Pueblos High School was named a California Distinguished High School. The school’s varied curriculum offers over 165 academic and elective courses. Ninety-six percent of Dos Pueblos students go on to higher education: 54% to Santa Barbara City College, 28% to UC campuses, 6% to state colleges, and 8% to private or out-of-state colleges. The school’s test scores have been the highest in the county for the past eight years, 119 points higher than the state average and 113 points higher than the national average. The Academic Performance Index places Dos Pueblos in the top 10% of all high schools in the State of California.
The 1966 construction plan for Dos Pueblos called for an auditorium, a stadium and air conditioning. However, due to budget restraints, the auditorium and stadium were not built and air conditioning was not installed.
Dos Pueblos was constructed on a 40-acre site. During the years since its construction, 14 portables have been added to the site to accommodate an increase in enrollment to 1,881 students. Twelve of these portables are over 25 years old and in need of immediate replacement.
