La Cumbre Junior High School
(Established in 1928)
La Cumbre Junior High School’s learning environment encourages self-disciplined, self-directed, and responsible academic and social behavior. Many programs have been implemented that provide a variety of academic support for students in grades 6, 7, and 8.
La Cumbre Junior High School currently serves an enrollment of 930 students. Designed in 1926 and opened in 1928, over 20,000 students have graduated from La Cumbre in a little over seven decades. La Cumbre takes pride in its campus, as is evidenced by its clean classrooms and lovely grounds, despite cutbacks due to limited funds. As the school ages, needed repairs are given priorities and done as funds permit. The school has been determined earthquake safe.
La Cumbre Junior High School was constructed on a 21.95-acre site. During the years since its construction, eight portables have been added to the site. All eight portables are over 25 years old and in need of immediate replacement.
La Cumbre Junior High School serves students from:
- Adams Elementary School
- Harding Elementary School
- McKinley Elementary School
- Monroe Elementary School
- Washington Elementary School
La Cumbre Junior High School feeds into San Marcos High School and Santa Barbara High School.
