Dos Pueblos High School Receives Six-Year Accreditation
David Brown, executive director of the Western Association for Accreditation of Schools and Colleges’ (WASC) Accrediting Commission for Schools recently notified principal Mark Swanitz of Dos Pueblos High School’s accreditation status:
“We have received and reviewed the report from the ‘On-Site Review’ visiting committee which visited your school. I am pleased to report to you that the report indicated that your school has given appropriate attention to the critical areas for follow-up indicated by the previous visiting committee and your accreditation is now reaffirmed through the end of the six year term ending in June 2010.”
WASC accreditation (1) certifies to the public that the school is a trustworthy institution of learning, (2) validates the integrity of a school’s program and student transcripts, (3) fosters improvement of the school’s programs and operations to support student learning, and assures a school community that the school’s purposes are appropriate and being accomplished through a viable educational program. WASC accreditation is required of all schools that want University of California approval of courses to meet the A-G requirements.
