La Cumbre Junior High School and Cesar Chavez Charter School Reach New Heights
Dr. Davis C. Hayden, the districts' director of research, evaluation, and technology, shared glowing remarks about the recent achievements of La Cumbre Junior High School and Cesar Chavez Charter School:
La Cumbre made it! Facing another year of going deeper into Program Improvement (PI), La Cumbre Junior High School's teachers, students, and administrators did what might have been considered impossible, they “made it.” That is, they passed all the federal government's goals and placed a hold on advancing in PI. Indeed, La Cumbre managed to almost pass all of this year's goals also. In terms of the state's Academic Performance Index (API), they advanced 47 points, the third best in the county. If they continue the trend, it is possible that they could exit PI this year, which would be cause for a district-wide celebration!
Cesar Chavez Charter School's students, teachers, and administrators also did much better on the federal benchmarks and for the first time passed all goals. This saved them from having a mark against them and possibly going into PI next year and represents a very solid performance. The school also showed a very solid gain of 25 points in their API score.
Congratulations go out to La Cumbre Junior High School and Cesar Chavez Charter School for a job well done!
