On Tuesday, October 9, 2007, Santa Barbara School Districts’ Board of Education unanimously voted to restore $340,000 to the junior high school electives program.
The districts’ four junior high schools–Goleta Valley, La Colina, La Cumbre, and Santa Barbara–each received funding for five elective classes, such as Spanish, art, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), vocal and instrumental music, musical theater, tv/video production, leadership, Fundamentals of Success, and Core Knowledge.
The junior high school principals–Veronica Rogers, David Ortiz, Jo Ann Caines, and John Becchio–will add the new classes as soon as possible.
