Santa Barbara School Districts to join the Serious Habitual Offender (SHO) Program
At their Tuesday, October 23, 2007 meeting, the Santa Barbara School Districts’ Board of Education voted to join a five-agency consortium including the Santa Barbara Police Department, District Attorney’s Office, County Probation Office and the Santa Barbara County Education Office in reinstating the Serious Habitual Offender (SHO) Program. The Serious Habitual Offender (SHO) Program is an information and case management program that enables the juvenile justice system to give additional, focused attention towards juveniles who repeatedly commit serious crimes. This program should enhance the likelihood of apprehension, prosecution and successful rehabilitation. It is anticipated that 19-20 minors may be identified for this program.
