Peter Pan to Soar Across the Santa Barbara High School Stage
Please join the Santa Barbara High School Theatre in a special production of Peter Pan, adapted from the novel by J.M. Barrie (first published in 1911). This is not the musical version made famous by Mary Martin and Cathy Rigby; instead it is a free-spirited, swashbuckling adventure that takes place in Neverland, just past that “second star on the right.” Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Michael, John and Wendy, the Lost Boys, an exotic tribe, fearsome pirates and a crocodile—all the characters of this childhood classic come to life onstage at Santa Barbara High School. With a student cast of 45 actors and a stage crew of 30, Peter Pan promises to be a magnificent theatrical experiences for audiences of all ages.
Cole Patterson will play Peter Pan, Jena Tico is Wendy; Kristian Sorensen is Michael; Conor Patterson is John; and Christopher Canfield will play Captain Hook.
Directed by Otto Layman, Peter Pan will have lights and set designed by Mike Madden of the Ensemble Theatre, with fight choreography by Christina McCarthy, and costumes by Lise Lange (Nana and the Crocodile designed by Chris Walas, who designed the amazing human size puppets for Carnival! at Santa Barbara High). All flying sequences are designed by Flying by Foy, who first designed the technology for Peter Pan and are the largest stage aerial company in the world.
Peter Pan plays November 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 at 7pm at the newly refurbished Santa Barbara High School theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.
