San Marcos Madrigal Singers’ Winter Concert on December 10
The Santa Marcos High School Madrigal Singers will hold a winter concert at the San Roque Church, 3200 Calle Cedro on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Admission at the door is $10.
Comprised of 26 students in grades 10-12, Madrigals is a year round class. The San Marcos Madrigals are currently fundraising and preparing for a March 10, 2008, performance at Carnegie Hall. Four high school choirs will perform on March 10; the San Marcos Madrigals are the only choir west of the Mississippi to perform.
According to teacher Carolyn Teraoka-Brady, students are caroling around town to raise money for the trip. They also have a Cabaret Night planned for January at San Marcos High School.
Recent awards:
- Southern California Vocal Association Festival “Superior Rating,” four years;
- Central Valley Choral Festival, California State University Stanislaus, 2006 participant;
- Eight students were Southern California Vocal Association Regional Honor Choir members this year;
- San Francisco Heritage Festival 2006 First Place gold;
- National Invitational Festival of Gold, New York City 2005, top score overall for first place in all categories;
- Students have participated in the All State Honor Choirs;
- Anaheim Heritage Festival 2004 Gold.
