Santa Barbara Junior High School Families and Staff Raise $1,491.45 for Southland Fire Victims

For one week in November, Santa Barbara Junior High School students and staff raised money to help those who were affected by the fires in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino counties. Donations totaling almost $1,500 were given to Direct Relief, a local non-profit charitable organization. The monies will be distributed in the form of medical supplies and items needed by those who suffered so much from last month’s fires. Participating organizers were the One World Club and assistance from teachers Marisa Parker, Elise Simmons’ first period class, and Kareem Battle.

Students who helped with the fundraiser were Lydia Nelson, Collette Speer, Isabella Domeshci, Elizabeth Harb, Sierra Balint, Sophia Hampp, Anne Martin, Nicolas Bergounhoux, Etienne Bergoundhoux, Ivette Gil, Annie de Bruynkops, Nina Mokwana, and Taylor Fraker.
