Goleta Valley Junior High’s Industrial Tech Students Learn about Construction Careers
Last Friday, students in Bill Gourley’s eighth-grade Industrial Technology class at Goleta Valley Junior High School had a presentation by two employees of Gordon-Fiano Framing Contractors. The students learned about safety on the job, reading and understanding blueprints, preparing for a career in construction, and state-of-the-art materials and planning used in construction. Wearing safety goggles, and closely supervised, students learned proper techniques for hammering and nailing and use of certain hand-held power tools.
