School Community Violence Prevention Grant

The district will not be applying for a School Community Violence Prevention Grant from the California Department of Education, as anticipated. The district does not qualify for funding because we do not demonstrate sufficient need for the grant as we do not exceed state averages on the Healthy Kids Survey regarding such factors as gang membership and students feeling safe at school. We have been advised that successful applicants must apparently ’significantly exceed’ statewide averages. However, there may be other grants in the future. We will be looking at other funding sources, such as the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant.
