San Marcos High School to Celebrate 50 Golden Years with a Weekend of Celebration

San Marcos High School, founded in 1958, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. A March 7-8, 2008, celebration is planned to honor the school’s golden anniversary and “50 Years of Royalty.” The San Marcos anniversary organizing committee invites all alumni, administrators, teachers, staff, coaches and community supporters to join the fun, reconnect with San Marcos, and see the exciting changes that have happened on campus, including a recently renovated auditorium and gym, current pool construction, new all-weather track, dynamic classroom environments, and continued campus beautification and upgrades.

The festivities begin on Friday, March 7, with a host of activities on campus that are free to the public. Friday’s celebration will feature a 30-minute rally in the Greek Theatre, starting at 11:00 am; a lunchtime carnival and club booths selling food and school memorabilia from 11:30 to 12:10; and campus tours beginning at 12:15.

The celebration continues on Saturday, March 8, with a gala dinner-dance at the Elks Lodge. Saturday’s gala begins at 5:30 pm and promises to be a night of dinner, dancing, entertainment and Royals’ nostalgia. Tickets are $50 per person and $400 for a reserved table of eight. Those who purchase a table will have designated seating at the event; Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis for those holding individual tickets.
