Santa Barbara High School’s Multimedia Arts and Design Academy Grant
Last Tuesday, February 26, the board of education unanimously approved Santa Barbara High School’s Multimedia Arts and Design Academy's application for a career technical education facilities grant. The grant would potentially provide funds from the California Department of Education (CDE) for the academy to expand its current facilities on the Santa Barbara High campus, adding new classroom space, a new television studio, while also modernizing its current restroom facilities.
The grant from the CDE requires the academy to match any funds awarded. The California Academy Foundation, the academy's governing foundation, has pledged to meet any fundraising needed to match the state grant, if the application is successful.
