Wednesday is Civil War Day at Santa Barbara Junior High
At 9:15 am, on Wednesday, April 23, Santa Barbara Junior High School’s eighth-grade students will participate in Civil War Day. Eighth-graders will have four rotations to see all the events.
Civil War re-enactors will be dressed in full Civil War regalia. There will be a hospital tent, an opportunity to learn about the life of soldiers during the war, and a cavalry officer.
Abraham Lincoln will be on stage in the school’s Marjorie Luke Theater, making 50-minute presentations about his presidency.
Students will hear the roar of a cannon and see the weaponry used by Civil War soldiers. Linelle Glass will host "Music in the Civil War" in the Globe Theater. Students will see a fife and hear the sound of instruments from the Civil War : banjo, fiddle and harmonica.
In the afternoon the eighth-graders will come together to view GLORY, an award-winning film.
