Passing of John Boettner

Sadly, longtime administrator and friend John Boettner passed away last Friday. His service will be on Tuesday, May 6, 2008.

John attended Harding, La Cumbre, and Santa Barbara High. Following his service in the Navy during World War II, he student taught under Santa Barbara High’s Jack Richards and then joined the districts in 1951. John taught at La Colina Junior High and then served as assistant principal at San Marcos High before becoming principal there in 1960. He later served as principal of Wilson, Lincoln, and then Franklin elementary schools. He retired in 1986 but continued working at the district for many years as a consultant. It is fitting that John’s service will be held on Tuesday, National Teacher Day.
