McKinley Elementary Third Graders Act Globally

McKinley Elementary School third grade teacher Cindy Toohey-Green received a Care/Share II grant from the Santa Barbara County Education Office for $250.00

The class has studied about how the animals help provide income for families. Some of these families have so little, their children are not able to attend school or provide enough to eat. After this study Mrs. Toohey-Green contacted a refugee camp in Ghana, Africa. The students have now begun a pen pal project. Although the cost of postage and email for the refugees is a bit prohibitive, Mrs. Toohey-Green is hoping to set up an account in Ghana with the unused portion of the grant money to make this project happen.
