Proposed Secondary District GATE Recommendations

In the fall of 2007, secondary parents, elementary parents in external feeder districts, the Santa Barbara High School District GATE Advisory Committee, and secondary principals expressed a desire to investigate an alternative approach to the secondary district’s current GATE program. To that end, a secondary GATE Planning Committee was formed.

The goals of the planning committee were to gather information about potential changes that could be made to improve the secondary GATE program in the future and to produce a reorganization plan that could be implemented in the fall of 2009. The recommendations will be presented to the districts’ board of education in an upcoming meeting (date to be determined), allowing the board to approve the plan in whole or in part.

The following links are on the districts’ website to allow our school communities and our neighboring communities to view and comment on the proposed 2009 Secondary GATE Program Recommendations. The comment section will be available until May 23, 2008.
