Washington Student Headed to State Elementary Spelling Championship
On Saturday, May 17, Quinn Hensley, a fifth-grader at Washington Elementary School, will join 60 elementary-level spellers from 32 counties at the California State Elementary Spelling Championship. The Spelling Bee will be held at Sonoma State University.
According to the Sonoma County Office of Education, “Trophies and savings bonds will be awarded to the to three spellers: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $25 for third place.” Additionally, all participants will receive a participation ribbon, souvenir, and a certificate signed by the governor.
