Opening Reception Celebrates Artwork by Students from McKinley Elementary School and Santa Barbara Charter School
There will be an opening reception today at the AFS Gallery, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., that will showcase a joint art display by McKinley Elementary School and Santa Barbara Charter School fourth-grade students. The display will continue through May 31, 2008.
According to Santa Barbara Charter School, given the theme “Two Rivers,” students were inspired to weave fiber arts “rivers,” utilizing recycled materials.
McKinley principal Dr. Juanita Carney noted that McKinley’s arts program is possible because of a generous anonymous donor who funded one art teacher and assistant for McKinley and two other schools in the Santa Barbara Elementary School District.
AFS Gallery is located at Art From Scrap, 302 East Cota Street, Santa Barbara.
