On Wednesday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m., César Chávez Charter School will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new playground climbing structure. Families have been working hard all year to fundraise approximately $80,000 to install swings, slides, and monkey bars. To date they have collected close to $50,000, but are still looking for community support.
Participating in the groundbreaking will be Armando Villagomez, owner of Aggressive Soccer who donated the first $1,000 in August; David Hetyonk, the districts’ director of facilities and operations; Carolynn Jones, representative of RecWest Outdoor Products; Carmen Carrillo, parent and secretary of the English Learners Advisory Committee/Padres Adelante; and student representatives from each grade level.
