Update: Norm Clevenger Is Ready to Lead San Marcos High School
At last night’s meeting of the board of education, Santa Barbara School Districts’ Superintendent Brian
Sarvis announced the selection of Norm Clevenger as the new principal of San Marcos High School. Mr. Clevenger will
replace retiring principal Craig Morgan.
Superintendent Sarvis and a team from San Marcos High School researched Mr. Clevenger thoroughly. “Norm is a good-to-great principal. Santa Ynez’s loss is our gain. We are fortunate to have benefited from the differences in personal styles between Norm and his previous superintendent. I was repeatedly told that Norm handled the strained relationship honestly and in a highly professional manner,” added Superintendent Sarvis. “We welcome Norm into our school districts.”
In a conversation this morning regarding his selection, Norm Clevenger said, “I am very excited about the opportunity to come to San Marcos High School. I was on the visitation team from the Santa Barbara County Education Office to San Marcos High for their Distinguished High School application. They passed with flying colors and I was most impressed with what I saw there and heard from the staff and parents.” He continued, “The staff is both talented and dedicated. The students are terrific. I have been hearing how involved and supportive the parents and community are. Retiring principal Morgan has also raved about the high quality of his administrative team. My passion is working with a school to promote student success for all. I truly love working with teachers and staff site-based management process. I believe that my leadership style is well suited for the very professional staff at San Marcos High and I look forward to working with them.”
