Police Chief Sanchez and Harding Principal Kingston to Trade Jobs on Thursday
Santa Barbara Police Chief Cam Sanchez and Harding Elementary School principal Sally Kingston will be trading jobs on Thursday, June 12, 2008. He will be the principal for a day and she will be police chief for a day.
Chief Sanchez is a regular visitor to Harding and other schools in the Santa Barbara School Districts. He routinely participates in Read Across America, reading to classrooms of students. On both a professional and personal level, the chief has long been interested in education, his daughter is an elementary school teacher. When a conversation between the chief and the principal took place as to who has the more challenging job, the gauntlet was thrown down and the job trade came up as a fun way to end the school year.
The chief will be at Harding between 7:30 and 8:00 am. He will attend an English Language Advisory Committee meeting, meet with staff, oversee lunch duty, and handle the daily challenges of a principal.
Meanwhile, at approximately 8:30 a.m. Sally Kingston will meet with the command staff, attend multiple briefings, go on ride alongs, and meet with a representative of the Police Activities League.
Of course, they will only be a few miles apart and a phone call away if needed.
