Tomatoes: News from Nutrition Services
Due to the salmonella outbreak in certain types of tomatoes, on Monday, June 9, the districts’ Department of Nutrition Services pulled all tomatoes from its kitchens and will be serving only locally produced tomatoes until further notice. According to an e-mail sent to food service directors from the California Department of Education Food Distribution Program, there are now confirmed cases reported in California.
