Board Consideration of a Parcel Tax to Support Education Programs
The board of education is considering putting a parcel tax for the elementary district and a parcel tax for the secondary district on an upcoming election ballot. The board will be discussing a tax in the range of $19 to $44 per parcel for funding such programs as enhancing math and science education, offering classroom music programs at elementary schools, restoring music arts and theater programs at junior high schools, and attracting and retaining quality teachers.
The board is also considering the length of time for the tax. If the board decides to put an item on the ballot, the campaign will have to be run by a citizen committee.
