Districts’ Board of Education Votes to Place Two Parcel Tax Resolutions on the November 4 Election Ballot

At a special meeting on June 27, 2008, the Santa Barbara School Districts’ Board of Education passed the following parcel tax resolutions:

If passed by voters on November 4, 2008, $23 per parcel per year for four years would be used in the secondary district to supplement math, science, and technology education; supplement music, arts and theater programs; supplement foreign language at the secondary level; and restore ninth-grade math class sizes.

If passed by voters on November 4, 2008, $27 per parcel per year for four years would be used in the elementary district to supplement math, science, and technology education as well as offer classroom music programs.

The resolutions were submitted to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors for inclusion on the November 4, 2008 election ballot. Passage requires approval of a two-thirds vote of the electorate.
