Board Approves Membership for Surplus Facilities Committee
The board of education authorized the formation of a surplus facilities advisory committee
to study the feasibility of moving the district office, rental of the district office site, feasibility
of rental of the Ortega Street site, and feasibility of rental of the Parma school site.
Per Education Code 17389 the committee shall have between seven and eleven members. On July 8, 2008,
the following individuals were approved as committee members:
- John Becchio, principal, Santa Barbara Junior High School
- Salud Carbajal (or representative), 1st District-Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors
- Bill Collyer, executive director, Downtown Organization of Santa Barbara
- Alissa Hummer, parent, senior campus planner, University of California, Santa Barbara
- Mark Ingalls, parent, real estate management, Santa Barbara Education Foundation board member
- Kenneth Knight, chair, City of Goleta Planning Commission and executive director, Goleta Valley
