Board Approval of Parent Notification System

At last night’s board of education meeting, the board approved a contract with TeleParent, an automated parent notification system. The system has the ability to deliver school information, attendance, and emergency alerts to elementary and secondary parents in a cost-effective, user-friendly, timely manner. The program also has a unique teacher/parent component that individual schools have the option of purchasing.

TeleParent will replace the secondary districts’ School Messenger system. TeleParent is used in many other school districts and the feedback has been positive; increased attendance has been attributed to the parent notification system.

The next steps will involve setting up the system and planning trainings. For more information refer to Attachment E.4, September 9, 2008, board meeting (pdf).
