In acknowledging the importance of teaching how to comingle environmental stewardship with commercial enterprise, the Southern California Gas Company is partnering with Santa Barbara High School’s Dons Net Café and Virtual Enterprises program. Virtual Enterprise is part of the Santa Barbara County Education Office’s Regional Occupational Program.
On Tuesday, the Gas Company gave the program a $5,000 donation to support the Don’s clothing and accessory line: Dons Custom Gear. The clothing line is comprised of customized t-shirts, sweatshirts, and other types of Dons decorated gear that will be available for sale. It is one component of the business program’s ethical economics (i.e., Ethonomics) operations.
Tim Mahoney, Southern California Gas Company spokesman, believes this program offers excellent training. He said, “The students are learning every aspect of business, from marketing to customer service, to free market economics. Dons Net Café is the ultimate in workforce readiness as it is preparing and inspiring students for the green economy.”
