Over the summer, 15 Santa Barbara High School students participated in a summer pilot program that the city and the Santa Barbara School Districts created for at-risk youth. Under the leadership of local mural artist Manuel Unzueta, students created the project at Santa Barbara High. The theme of the mural is unity, culture, education, and peace. At 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, December 12, 2008, the Santa Barbara High students will present the mural as a gift to the children of Franklin Elementary School, hoping to inspire children to work towards their goals.
The event will begin in the school’s auditorium before moving outdoors to the site of the 24-ft. wide x 8-ft. high mural.
Franklin Elementary School is located at 1111 E. Mason Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93103, (805) 963-4283.
