Yesterday, the California Department of Public Health issued a warning regarding peanut butter cookies and cookie dough distributed by fundraisers at 162 public and private schools in California. The notice was part of a national recall of products potentially tainted with a strain of salmonella. The products in question were sold by Dough-To-Go to school fundraiser groups between August 2008 and January 16, 2009.
The Santa Barbara School Districts do NOT purchase from Dough-To-Go, Inc. of Santa Clara. Also, Dough-To-Go's peanut products are NOT part of the school lunch program. Nutrition Services Director Nancy Weiss says, “We serve only unprocessed peanut butter from the tub. Sunland brand is our source. This company is not part of the recall.”
