Santa Barbara Junior High and Dos Pueblos High’s Engineering Academy Recipients of the Women’s Fund Grant Awards Totaling $220,000
Yesterday, February 9, the Women's Fund of Santa Barbara awarded $725,000 to ten local nonprofit agencies at its Fifth Annual Presentation of Funds Luncheon. Two of the grant recipients are in the the Santa Barbara High School District.
Santa Barbara Junior High School received $70,000 for CORE, an individualized intervention program designed to explore productive choices for at-risk 7th and 8th grade students. Principal John Becchio accepted the award.
The second recipient from the Santa Barbara School Districts was Dos Pueblos High School’s Engineering Academy. The academy received $150,000 toward a new building to expand the hands-on science and engineering program for high school students entering college or the work force. Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy Director Amir Abo-Shaeer accepted the award.
