New Interdistrict Attendance Board Policy
On Tuesday night, the board adopted changes to the board policies on interdistrict attendance, finalizing the return of elementary students to their home districts. The exceptions to this include:
- students who are children of district employees;
- students in the fifth grade during the 2008-2009 may be granted an interdistrict transfer to attend 6th grade in 2009-2010;
- siblings of approved 6th grade interdistrict transfer students may be granted an interdistrict transfer for 2009-2010 only.
The new elementary district policy (Board Policy 5117, “Interdistrict Attendance: Santa Barbara Elementary School Districts”) includes an exemption application and appeal process. The policies are now on the districts’ web site: http://www.sbsdk12.org/board/policies/
At the March 10 meeting, the board also adopted Board Policy 5117.1 and Administrative Regulation 5117.1, “Interdistrict Attendance: Santa Barbara High School District.”
