Facilities Projects Are Ready to Bid

On March 24, 2009, the board of education was provided with information about district projects that are ready to bid that could proceed if federal stimulus funds became available. While the funds have been allocated by the federal government, the rules for distribution have not been finalized and we are unsure of the timing and distribution of funds.

In the elementary district, Adams, Cleveland, Franklin, and Peabody have approved modernization drawings with remaining work that has not been accomplished due to budget shortfalls. In addition, the final phase of portable reconfiguration at Washington Elementary School is ready to bid.

In the secondary district, projects that are ready to bid are the main kitchen (including the CTE kitchen) at Santa Barbara High School, heating and ventilating system replacement at Dos Pueblos High School, and replacement of portable classrooms with a permanent building at San Marcos High School.

The districts will proceed with the portable relocation at Washington Elemenentary School and main kitchen renovation at Santa Barbara High School if funds become available.
