H1N1 (Swine Flu) Virus Update

Santa Barbara Public Health Department representatives met with Santa Barbara County school superintendents this morning regarding the H1N1 (swine flu) virus. Since there are no probable or confirmed cases in Santa Barbara County, there are no recommended school dismissal orders. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, California Department of Public Health, and California Department of Education guidelines are on-line. These sources support local decisions with consideration of all options for mitigation and prevention of transmission. The guidelines have been changing frequently. A local plan is expected in the next few days.
