Washington School’s Quinn Hensley Takes First Place in the California State Elementary Spelling Bee Championship

Congratulations Quinn Hensley, Washington Elementary School 11-year-old sixth-grader, first place winner of the California State Elementary Spelling Championship. Quinn was one of 60 elementary school spellers who had already won school, region, and county spelling bees and went on to advance to the Saturday, May 16 state event held on the Sonoma State University campus.

The competition was completed in 20 rounds and Quinn won the top prize by correctly spelling “ichthyologist” and then “sacrosanct.” He received a trophy and a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond. Washington Elementary School will receive a wall clock commemorating Quinn’s achievement.
