In November 2008, voters passed education parcel tax Measure H2008 and Measure I2008 to benefit student in the Santa Barbara School Districts. The special tax will last for four years, beginning in the fiscal year starting July 1, 2009 and ending in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2012. Measure H is a $23 per year special tax to benefit educational programs in the Santa Barbara High School District. Measure I is a $27 per year special tax to benefit the Santa Barbara Elementary School District.
The annual exception is available on any parcel owned by any owners 65 years of age or over of a parcel used solely for owner-occupied, single-family residential purposes. The senior citizen tax exemption application form for tax year 2009-10 must be filed by 5:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2009.
The senior citizen tax exemption application (available in English and Spanish) can be picked up from the receptionist, Santa Barbara School Districts’ Administration Center, 720 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA, or can be downloaded from the districts’ web site.
