Child Development Program Awarded $100K Grant

For the fourth year, Child Development Program coordinators Susan Ashlock and Jennie Martinez have written and been awarded a California Department of Education Repair and Renovation Grant of $100,000. The new grant will be used to renovate the Adams Elementary School pre-k/kindergarten outdoor space.

The previous $100,000 awards were used for a new roof at Franklin Children’s Center, a new heating/air system at Franklin Children’s Center, and new carpeting/linoleum, painting, and air-conditioning at various Child Development sites.

“We feel very fortunate to bring the funds to the Santa Barbara Elementary School District’s Child Development Program and we look forward to working with the Adams principal, pre-K and kindergarten teachers, Eric Nelson, and the districts’ Facilities Department in bringing a new vision of the outdoor space to Adams Elementary School,” said Jennie Martinez.
