Free professional education program for school educators, administrators, and parents

A message from school nurse Michelle Melendez:

On September 17, 2009, from 8:30-10:30 am, a free training for educators, nurses, counselors, administrators, and parents will be held at the Santa Barbara School Districts’ Administration Office, 720 Santa Barbara Street, called, “Welcome Back: Facilitating the school experience for childhood cancer survivors.”

Speakers will be Robyn Howard-Anderson, MSW, LICSW, pediatric oncology social worker at Cottage Children’s Hospital, and Pam Rodriguez, RN, BSN, pediatric hematology/oncology nurse at Cottage.

The goal is to educate school personnel and parents on the cognitive and late effects of childhood cancer treatment to improve the transition of childhood cancer survivors from clinic to classroom.
