Is there a doctor in the house? Yes and they are local grads
The current issue of Cottage Magazine (fall 2009) features a story on “The future of medicine.” Featured are two new physicians: Dr. Ashley Thorsell and Dr. Matti Jansen, now in their first year of internal medicine residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Doctors Thorsell and Jansen are continuing a friendship that began at Washington Elementary School and continued at La Cumbre Middle School and then San Marcos High School. They both went on to major at microbiology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. According to the magazine, Dr. Thorsell focused on endrocrinology, having developed diabetes at age 19, and Dr. Jansen pursued her interests in global health.
