In conjunction with Health Linkages, the Child Development’s State Preschool Programs will be conducting a series of nutritional workshops for the program’s parents. Head Teacher Marilyn Zaunius is incorporating fruits and vegetables into lesson plans for the programs’ three-year-old class, wrapping up each week during November with a "cooking" activity. November 13 is “Fruit Salad Friday.”
Marilyn says, “We will celebrate this unit on healthy foods with our first parent potluck on November 23 where we will serve homemade vegetable soup. Our class has tasted cooked pumpkin, butternut squash and made our own fresh apple cider using an electric juicer and a variety of local homegrown apples. We also made pumpkin pancakes.”
Upcoming workshop series put on by Health Linkages include: "Healthy Options Away from Home" (November 18), "Smart Shopping" (December 7), and "How Many Minutes a Day?" (December 16).
