Yesterday’s eNEWS included a story on 11 students who participated in the Journalism Education Association conference last month in Washington D.C. Dos Pueblos High School has been notified that one student, Alison Kern, won an Excellence Award for her contest entry. All of the Dos Pueblos attendees competed against 2,200 students from across the U.S. in writing, broadcast, layout and design categories. Alison, a 12th grader, attended the conference as one of DP’s yearbook editors for 2009-10. According to teacher John Dent, Dos Pueblos has never entered the write-off competitions so it was a new experience for everyone. Allie was in a category for yearbook copy writing and she finished in the top 10 of all entries earning an Excellence Award for her efforts.
