Indie local heroes have district connections
San Marcos High School counselor Sergio Castellanos and Harding Elementary School parent volunteers Susan Rakov and Vince Semonsen are among the Santa Barbara Independent’s Local Heroes 2009 (November 25-December 3 issue). Sergio was identified as a “Guiding Light,” particularly for his work with at-risk youth and recent immigrants. Identified by the Independent as “School Saints,” Ms. Rakov was recognized for helping fund the Harding School Foundation and Mr. Semonsen was recognized for serving as chair of the environment committee.
