EVER AFTER, THE MUSICAL to open at La Cumbre Junior High

Is “Happy Ever After” really as happy as everyone expects? In this hilarious parody of daytime television, host Monterey Jack Chesterfield Williamson wonders if time truly heals all wounds. He invites Cinderella and her middle-aged “beauty-impaired” stepsisters to reconcile with each other after being estranged for 20 years. What about Snow White and the Evil Queen? This hysterical fractured fairy tale has it all: a trash-talking clairvoyant mirror, an unfortunate prince who is turning slowly back into a frog. Jiminy Cricket who is now an occupational therapist and author of the book, “My Life as Your Conscience” also joins the colorful cast. The musical is punctuated by questions from obnoxious studio audience members and ridiculously funny infomercials for fairy tale related products, such as “The Practical Princess Crown”.

Unique to this production will be the integration of theatre arts and other classes and programs. La Cumbre’s After School Theater Arts Program will appear as musical guests on the show. They will be singing and dancing to music of Michael Jackson and other songs, such as “9 to 5.” The Video Production class has created a few commercials that will be featured during the show.

The show will be performed at the La Cumbre Junior High Theater on Friday, January 15, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5.00, and children 5 and under are free.
