A message from Deputy Superintendent Eric D. Smith
Last night the board of education received the independent audit of the districts’ books for the 2008-09 fiscal year. Christy White, from the firm of Nigro, Nigro and White, informed the board that the districts had received an “unqualified opinion” on its audit. An unqualified opinion is regarded as a clean bill of health, when the auditor made no exceptions and inserts no qualifications in the report. An unqualified opinion can only be expressed when the independent auditor has formed the opinion on the basis of an examination made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, applied in a consistent basis and includes all informative disclosures necessary to make the statements not misleading.
