Weather Watch

We can continue to expect periods of heavy rain, wind, and thunderstorms today and tomorrow. We are advised that weather is expected to be very active in the early morning hours tomorrow. While we do not expect major problems because of it, we will remain on alert. The National Weather Service anticipates a break in the weather on Friday.

Schools in our district and surrounding districts will remain open, unless major power outages or flooding occur BEFORE schools open. In the event that schools do not have power before they open tomorrow, we plan to make an early morning TeleParent call to staff and students.

Precautions:

• Use caution when going to/from school; flooding is expected in low spots in our community and the winds may down trees and power lines.
• Monitor the course of the storm by going to the National Weather Service web site www.weather.gov
• Flood maps can be accessed at http://www.countyofsb.org/itd/gis/default.aspx?id=16668 (Public Works Department, County Flood Zone)
• Information on city and county road closures, sandbags, and other storm information is posted on Channel 20.

We are using TeleParent (our call system to parents), the district web site, and the media to convey information to our school community.
