On Thursday and Friday of next week, February 4 and 5, 180 La Colina Junior High School eighth graders in English and history GATE classes will perform the time-honored show “Americana,” featuring songs, dances, famous historical speeches and student-authored monlogues about the history of our country from the American Revolution to the Industrial Revolution.
The cast of students began the project in the fall with research about the historical eras and the people and cultural groups who shaped the United States. Students will portray a wide variety of the people who made this nation what it is today, including immigrants and industrialists, Native
Americans, colonists, cowboys, child laborers, slaves, and reformers. Tickets will be on sale Monday through Friday, and shows usually sell out. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children. For ticket information call La Colina Junior High, (805) 967-4506.
